Protecting Rights in the Workplace: ICE Visit—November 13, 6:00 p.m.–7:15 p.m.
Did you know. . .
All people living in the United States, including undocumented immigrants, have certain U.S. Constitutional rights. If immigration officers (ICE) come to your workplace, they must have a valid search warrant or the consent of your employer to enter non-public areas. If you are undocumented and ICE comes to your workplace, you need to be prepared.
An ICE visit to a workplace can be an I-9 Form Audit, a raid to find undocumented workers, or a targeted detention of specific individuals. Employers must know their rights and employees’ rights.
Learn the scope of ICE’s authority and how best to respond if ICE arrives unannounced at your workplace. The rules are changing all the time and so, too, are ICE’s actions.
By attending this webinar, you will learn:
- About the types of ICE workplace visits.
- What your employer rights and responsibilities are.
- What your employees’ rights are.
- What to do during an ICE visit.
- How to prepare for an ICE visit.
ICE is currently conducting workplace visits throughout Long Island. The PEF Membership Benefits Program (PEF MBP) has partnered with the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association (LIHBA) to educate our membership on how to properly respond during an ICE visit. While visits are occurring in Long Island at this time, they can occur anywhere, at any time.
LIHBA has been at the forefront of this issue on Long Island and will have up-to-date information to share with you. This webinar will provide vital information and allow time for questions and discussion.
